Aldeas Infantiles SOS is a private non-profit international organization which helps children. It is interdenominational and independent of all political affiliation, and was founded in 1949 in Imst (Austria) and now is present in 133 countries. Our work focuses on child development until he/she becomes self-sufficient and fully integrated into society. We work to strengthen vulnerable families so that they can adequately look after their children; we protect children who have been deprived of parental care to whom we offer a protective family environment in which they can grow up feeling loved and respected, and we accompany young people as they mature and become independent. Aldeas Infantiles SOS is a member of UNESCO and an adviser for thee Economic and Social Board of the UN.
